That mermaid is really enjoying herself there…can’t blame her on second thought, because if this is warm tea she’d probably get a ton of benefits from soaking in it. I can’t tell you how happy I was that the string was attached to the teabag instead of the mermaid though. Count of me to see things oddly at first sight! XD In the artist’s comments, she mentions that she had this piece in her portfolio to show the Art College that she was trying to get into. As this was created last year, I really hope that it helped her!
I personally love the soft colors in this, none of it is trying to force attention over the rest of the painting. (Except maybe that cake in the front right. It’s an interesting way to end the piece!)

As usual, I don’t understand the characters themselves other than what the artist has said about them. These two are meant to be immortal, so they should heal up quickly. But she was also trying to show that mental pain doesn’t always heal as quickly as the body should. It’s a very interesting take, in my opinion!
I have to go on about that background for a little bit. The colors blend in a beautiful way and I really do enjoy how it seems that they’re walking on a starry road into forever. For a moment, the flashes of light disoriented me, but a quote from the Touhou project that Shizuko-Akatsuki wrote out made everything snap into sense:

I was thrilled to see that Shizuko-Akatsuki had commented on my features thread again! I love her artwork, as y’all can no doubt tell. XD So it’s with great pleasure that I ask y’all to go through her gallery. Just as I said before, you’ll surely enjoy the works you see there if you liked what was shown in this feature. ^^
